Caldecott Club (1st - 3rd Grade) Students are encouraged to participate in the Caldecott reading program here at Monte Vista. Read a Caldecott award winner or honor book, then complete one art project to submit to our school library.

Student Incentives Read
2 books, and turn in 2 art projects by March 1, 2013 and qualify to
attend a Caldecott/Newbery assembly on March 15, 2013. Complete a 3rd book, and
art project by May 3, 2013 and you will be able to attend a special
Ice Cream Social during recess on May 10, 2013.
The Caldecott Medal was named in honor of nineteenth-century English illustrator Randolph Caldecott. It is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children. Newbery Club (4th - 6th Grade) Students are encouraged to participate in the Newbery reading program here at Monte Vista. Read a Newbery award winner or honor book, then complete an A/R (Accelerated Reader) quiz and turn in the participation form to the library. Additional art projects are optional.
